Minutes of Meeting

August 20, 2009

FAIRWOOD WEST HOMEOWNERS ASSOCIATION

The monthly meeting of the Fairwood West Homeowners Association Board of Trustees was called to order at 7 pm on Thursday August 20th, 2009.  Trustees in attendance were David Mahowald, Lou Carlascio, Adrian Ryneveld and Amrik Pander.  Also in attendance was Barb Simeona, Association Bookkeeper.  Cecile Blumenzweig, Pat Wrye and Dan Rystrom had previously made their absence known to the board.

                                   ~ MONTHLY REMINDERS ~

Please keep your dues current – this is how the association pays for security, utilities and common area maintenance

Please call any board member if you see an abandoned home.  Be prepared to give the address so that we can have our security monitor activity.

It’s been a very dry summer – please be careful to avoid fires.

Minutes of Previous Meeting – The minutes from the July 2009 will be reviewed at the September 2009 meeting.

Fire District 40 – For Fire District news please see the FD 40 report in the Fairwood Flyer. 

King County Sheriff’s Report – Officer Sam Shirley was present to report.  He noted that burglaries are up.  Since July 1st there have been six in the area.  Almost all gaining entry by breaking side and/or back doors.  They are taking laptops, cameras, cash and jewelry.  If you see anything suspicious – please call 911.

Homeowner Comments – No homeowner’s present to comment.

Homeowner Covenant Enforcement Appeals – No appeals to be heard.   If you wish to appeal your covenant enforcement violation you will need to contact Lou Carlascio and setup a meeting to discuss with the Appeals Committee.  Lou’s contact information can be found in the Fairwood Flyer or online on the Fairwood Community News website as noted above.

Security – Nothing new to report. 

Financial Report – The financial report was reviewed.   

Treasurers Report – David noted he needs budget recommendations before the September meeting. 

Sam Shirley, KC officer noted that the increase for officers will be 5% for 2010.

Architectural Control Report – David received a letter from a homeowner and passed it onto Amrik.

Common Properties Report – It was noted that the lock on the lower park area seems to be secure.  There was discussion regarding the play equipment, measurements and how to take apart and put back together.

Community Events –Nothing new to report.

Pride In Ownership – Thank you to the following homeowners who were chosen for this month’s Pride in Ownership Awards.  Each owner is given a certificate and a gift card.

The community appreciates all your hard work in keeping your yard and home beautiful.

Covenant Enforcement – The board reviewed all the homes that were previously in process. 

There were ten new violations turned in to the board for review. 

Four violations were completed in August – thank you to those homeowners!

There have been 78 violations completed since inception!

Unfinished Business Report – Nothing new to report.

New Business Report – Nothing new to report.

The meeting adjourned at 8:00 p.m.

The next monthly meeting of the Fairwood West Homeowners Association will be held on Thursday September 17th, 2009 at 7:00 p.m., at the Nativity Lutheran Church, 17707 140th SE.  Meetings are now held in the portable building on the church property.

All residents are welcome to attend.
